Malekith's starting point is a secure corner of the map that naturally expands in any direction you want to go.Malekith is an excellent lord who's good in melee and with magic, so you can experiment with battlefield magic, while he's also sturdy enough to mix things up in melee if you lose track of him.It's hard to have loyalty problems with him, and it's alright to not optimize Slavery. Dark Elves have some fiddly mechanics, but Malekith makes them effectively non-issues.And the High Elf battle mechanic harshly punishes mistakes and encourages passive play. You'll also probably hamper yourself diplomatically trying to be 'The Hero' out to save the world from itself. Your army will be boring Spears, Archers, and half-dozen flavors of Pigeon throughout the entire game, if you don't get bored by Turn 10. Managing Intrigue and Heroes is a fiddly chore. Tyrion has limited interactivity that, while hard to get into a bad matchup, can't escape easily on the battlefield. High Elves will leave you stranded on the donut after defeating your starting foe faffing about with allies until you get surprise attacked by Pirates out of seemingly nowhere.
